No More of This

Scripture: Luke 22:39–53 | Date: June 29, 2025

Jesus was betrayed, arrested, and attacked—yet He responded with peace. On the night of His arrest, Jesus prayed, “Not my will, but yours be done.”

Even though fully divine, Jesus was also fully human and felt pain and fear. Yet in His humanity, He still chose love and obedience to God.

When Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss, chaos followed. Peter reacted with violence, cutting off a man’s ear, but Jesus said, “No more of this.”

Instead of striking back, Jesus healed. He loved His enemy. He showed restraint and compassion even in His darkest hour.

This sermon explores how we, too, can choose peace over retaliation. We often react with sharp words, passive silence, or angry actions.

But Jesus calls us to something better. He invites us to let go of revenge and trust God's justice instead.

Through Jesus' example, we learn that strength is not in striking back—but in laying down the sword. Choosing peace takes more courage.

Even among His disciples—like Matthew the tax collector and Simon the Zealot—Jesus united enemies through love.

Today, Jesus still calls us to unity, to healing, and to grace. When you're wronged, pause. Listen. Respond with love.

In a divided world, the church must reflect Christ by being peacemakers.

So remember His words: No more of this.
