When Life Isn't Fair

Scripture: Luke 23:13–25 | Date: July 20, 2025

Everyone faces unfair moments. Whether it's missed opportunities, painful losses, or injustice—you wonder where God is in it all.

Jesus understands. He stood trial though innocent. The crowd chose Barabbas, a murderer, while Jesus took his place. It wasn’t fair.

But grace isn’t fair either—and that’s good news.

We are all like Barabbas. We may not commit crimes, but we’ve all fallen short. Still, Jesus chose the cross so we could walk free.

God’s grace replaces what we deserve with what we need: forgiveness, hope, and new life. That’s the gospel.

So how should we respond when life isn’t fair?

First, remember Jesus understands. He suffered injustice. He knows your pain and walks with you through it.

Second, acknowledge your emotions. It’s okay to cry out, “Why, God?” The Bible is full of honest laments and painful questions. God welcomes them.

Third, trust in God’s purpose. Even when you don’t see it, He is working for good. Jesus' unjust sentence led to salvation for all.

We may never fully understand our pain. But we can trust God’s character and cling to His grace.

So when life feels unfair, look to the cross. It shows us both the world’s injustice and God’s incredible mercy.

Life may not be fair. But God's grace isn’t either—and that changes everything.
