Stepping into the Unknown
Scripture: Genesis 12:1–4a | Date: September 14, 2025
Life often asks us to step into situations we do not fully understand. These moments create tension, but they also open the door to faith.
Abraham’s story in Genesis 12 reveals what it means to trust God without knowing the outcome. God called him to leave his home and journey to a land yet to be shown; he had no map, timeline, or guarantees. Still, he went.
God’s promise to Abraham included three parts: a place, a people, and a purpose. Abraham’s family would become a nation, and through him, all peoples would be blessed. Ultimately, this promise pointed to Jesus Christ, the true fulfillment of God’s blessing to the world.
Faith does not remove difficulty. Abraham’s journey, and the lives of many biblical figures, were full of challenges. God never promised ease, but He did promise His presence. To be blessed is to experience God drawing near, guiding, and protecting. God’s covenant also included a warning: “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you, I will curse.” In other words, God has our back.
For us, stepping into the unknown might look different. It could mean a new job, a move, a relationship, or a ministry role. It could mean reconciliation, service, or speaking about faith. Each step requires trust that God will show the way.
We may want God to work like a GPS—giving clear directions with an arrival time. Instead, He calls us to take the next step without knowing the full plan. Joy is not found in certainty but in following God’s invitation.
Like Abraham, we are blessed to be a blessing. The question is not if God calls us, but how we will respond. Will we trust Him enough to go?
