Saved by Grace | Rescued for a Purpose

We all long for rescue, to be saved. At times, fear, grief, or uncertainty can overwhelm us. However, rescue is never the end of the story. Instead, it is the beginning of something new.

This sermon explores a powerful truth from Exodus 19. God does not only rescue His people from something. He rescues them for something. That shift changes everything.

First, we see that rescue begins with grace. God reminds Israel that He carried them out of Egypt. They did not save themselves, but God acted first. He delivered them with power and care. Like an eagle lifting its young, God carried His people to safety. In the same way, God’s grace still leads us today.

Next, the sermon highlights the importance of remembering. Looking back helps us see God’s faithfulness. Yet, we must not stay stuck in the past. Instead, we reflect so we can move forward with trust. God’s past work builds our present faith.

Then, we see the call to obedience. Importantly, obedience does not earn God’s love. Rather, it responds to God’s grace. Israel obeys because they already belong to God. Likewise, we follow Christ because we are already saved by Him. This truth reshapes how we live.

As a result, God gives His people a new identity. He calls them His “treasured possession.” This term describes something deeply valued and protected. Out of all creation, God chooses His people as uniquely precious. That identity is a gift, not a reward.

Furthermore, God gives them a mission. They are called to be a “priestly kingdom” and a “holy nation.” Their lives should reflect God’s character to the world. They are meant to show His justice, mercy, and love. In other words, they become a living witness.

This calling continues today. Through Christ, believers share the same purpose. We are rescued by grace and sent on mission. We reflect God in everyday life. We show others what it means to know Him.

Finally, the sermon challenges us to act. God does not rescue us to stay comfortable. He calls us to step forward in faith. Even when courage feels small, we can walk with others and grow.

In conclusion, God rescues us for a purpose. Grace comes first. Then obedience follows. Finally, identity and mission take shape. Therefore, we are invited to live fully in what God has done and what He is still doing.
