Hope is Alive

Scripture: Luke 23:50–24:12 | Date: August 3, 2025

When Jesus died, hope seemed lost. His followers were heartbroken, disillusioned, and confused. But the empty tomb changed everything.

The resurrection wasn’t expected. Even Jesus’ closest friends came to mourn, not to celebrate. Yet they found the stone rolled away—and the tomb empty.

God had done what no one imagined. Jesus, once buried, had risen. Death didn’t win. Hope was alive again.

Luke’s Gospel captures how each person responded. Joseph of Arimathea longed for justice. When Jesus died, he lost hope. But the resurrection restored it.

The women came discouraged and heartbroken. Jesus had given them identity, belonging, and purpose. At the tomb, they expected to anoint His body—not meet angels.

The angel asked, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?” That question still speaks to us today.

Peter came in shame. He had denied Jesus three times. He thought he was disqualified. But Jesus wasn’t done with him—and He’s not done with us.

The empty tomb means Jesus accomplished His mission. He conquered sin, death, and despair. And He brings new life to everyone who believes.

So where in your life has hope died? Where are you walking in darkness or grief?

The resurrection speaks into every place of despair. Disillusioned? Discouraged? Dejected? Jesus brings healing, meaning, and joy.

Because the tomb is empty, your life can be full: full of grace, full of purpose, full of hope.

Believe the good news. Hope is alive—because Jesus lives.
